Candle Dipping Glaubten 2025
Candle Making at Glaubten is a public event that takes place every year during the last week of November in the youth room of the Glaubten Centre in Zurich-Affoltern. Everyone, young and old, is welcome. We offer beeswax, colourful wax in ten shades, and special effect wax (“snow crystal”). You can create your own candles in a cosy Advent atmosphere. There’s also a creative craft corner and a café area where you can relax and enjoy the moment.
The event is organised entirely on a volunteer basis, and all profits are donated to a charitable organisation. To make sure the Candle Making can take place every year, we are always looking for volunteer helpers. Even two hours of your time make a big difference! As a thank-you, helpers receive a 50% discount on all prices. Sign up to help here
You can download this year’s flyer here. If you’d like to be informed early about next year’s event, you can subscribe to our newsletter (we only send one email per year!).
If you’d like to visit the Candle Making with a larger group (10 people or more), please contact us in advance so we can make sure there are enough helpers on site. Thank you!

About Us
Candle Making at Glaubten has, for over 50 years, given young and old alike the chance to make their own candles during the last week of November. It is organised today by a young and motivated team in collaboration with the Glaubten Church, and ultimately supported and made possible by numerous volunteers.
In 2013, the organising team that had originally built up the Candle Making at Glaubten decided to stop preparing, running, and coordinating the event. We (the new team) had all been long-time visitors of the candle making. Most of us had taken part every year with our school classes since we were children, and we had all known each other since then. As enthusiastic visitors and helpers, we quickly learned that there was a risk the event might no longer take place. The decision to join forces and keep the tradition alive was made quickly. During the first two years, we still worked closely with the former team, but since 2016 we have been organising the event entirely independently.
Every year, over 40 school classes take part in the Candle Making, which is around 800 children aged 6 to 12. During the public opening hours, about 200 additional visitors make use of our offer. All of this is based entirely on volunteer work, with more than 300 hours contributed in total. Over the course of the one week in which the Candle Making at Glaubten is open each year, around 200 kg of coloured wax and 50 kg of beeswax are used. All of this is only possible thanks to our wonderful volunteers.
Donations
The candle-dipping is a non-profit event made possible by a small team of volunteers. We donate our winnings every year. Here's who we donated to in the past:
